- Select a project from the D4COST database that is similar in
construction type, use and quality to the project you are estimating. Sort
project by building type to find the cost models that fit your needs. If your
selection is still too large (example: Churches: 45 (?) projects) you can narrow
your search by selecting roof type, wall type, etc. to find just the right cost
model for your estimate.
- Target the project from the base (date and location) to the
new base (date and location) of the project you are cost estimating. When you
click to purchase (or put the project in your shopping cart) the project is
automatically rebased to your new specifications. (You can change this later
once you have purchased an estimate).
- Adjust the square foot size to comply with the size of the project
you are estimating.
- Print estimate.
Your estimate will be displayed in the standard 16 Division CSI
MasterFormat®.
Once you have purchased a case study, it is yours
indefinitely and is stored under your account. You can come back as often as you
need to re-target the project to another time and place at will and print out
additional reports.
Furthermore, once you have purchased a case study, a
high-resolution Adobe® Acrobat® file is available to you with project
information and illustrations that is suitable for printing should you want to
include illustrations of the project on which you based your information in your
report.
For those who need to adjust the data in the CSI fields, or who need more
advanced estimating capabilities, once you have purchased an estimate you can
load the data in to the D4COST software. D4COST gives
you complete control of adjusting data by cost, cost per square foot, percent of
cost, and much more. You may add and/or delete subdivisions, modify costs in
subdivisions, create multiple cost model scenarios, drag and drop subdivisions
from one cost model to another, and much more.
